New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., have been abandoned. The Bill of Rights has been revoked, and replaced with the Moral Statutes. There are no more police—instead, there are soldiers. There are no more fines for bad behavior—instead, there are arrests, trials, and maybe worse. People who get arrested usually don't come back. Seventeen-year-old Ember Miller is old enough to remember that things weren't always this way. Living with her rebellious single mother, it's hard for her to forget that people weren't always arrested for reading the wrong books or staying out after dark. It's hard to forget that life in the United States used to be different. Ember has perfected the art of keeping a low profile. She knows how to get the things she needs, like food stamps and hand-me-down clothes, and how to pass the random home inspections by the military. Her life is as close to peaceful as circumstances allow. That is, until her mother is arrested for noncompliance with Article 5 of the Moral Statutes. And one of the arresting officers is none other than Chase Jennings—the only boy Ember has ever loved.

It's an Article Violation to call this book anything but fabulous! Yep that's really what I said, this book is another one of my favorites that I have read this year.  I really want to talk about the characters of this book, there are some fantastic ones to chat about from the main to the smaller side characters.  One being Ember, of course, she is the main character in this book and I fell in love with this character right away, I loved how much she grew in this book and how much she fought for what she wanted and believed in. Then we have the man of the hour Chase, at first I wasn't sure what to think of this character, I had a hard time liking him.  Till about little over middle of the book when I finally realized that I really liked Chase.

As for the plot of Article 5, it's one that is very believable, it's one that I think could actually happen in the future.  It's crazy to think about, but it's possible.  I think the author did a great job with each of the article's in this book and it had to take a lot of thought and organization to come up with each one and the reason behind each.

I also want to mention the setting of this book as well, I think it's my favorite part of this book and the series as a whole.  It starts off in Kentucky, which is where I live and where I'm from.  I know the places in which she was describing and they are perfectly described.  Each time I read a new place she passed on the bus ride, I was like Yep I know where she is.  It was awesome to be able to picture it even more in my head knowing exactly where on the high way she was at each moment.

Each part of this story is well thought out, from the characters all the way down to each and every detail of the scenery.  Kristen Simmons is a mastermind at world building and a well thought out plot.  I can't wait to read more from this talented author, which thank God I don't have to wait, I have more of her books on my shelves.

I highly recommend Article 5 to anyone that loves dystopian.  Oh and before I forget I want to mention this fantastic cover! I mean look at all the detail and the colors are just WOW!

Article 5 is a book that deserves the rating I'm about to give it!
