Take A Break...Watch A Vid

Take a Break Watch this Vid is a post that I have her on Ali's Bookshelf from time to time.  It showcases a lot of book trailers or movie trailers that I'm excited to see/read. Today is no different.  Today I have the book trailer for the book I'm reading right now and loving.

I hope you enjoyed this book trailer as much as I did.  I'm loving this book so far and can't wait to read the rest of the series. AMAZING!

Teaser Tuesday #104

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other Teaser Tuesday participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.

He lay down, his hand still upon his sword, and fell asleep. Still, the image haunted his dreams throughout the night: a lovely girl gazing at the stars, and the stars who gazed back.

I must say there are so many amazing lines that I could have shared in this book, but this is one that has stuck with me since I read it! I'm loving this book so far.

It's Monday...What Are You Reading?

This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.  It's a meme where you share what you read last week, what you're currently reading and what you plan on reading that week.

Alright, I won't be doing these posts every week, like I have in the past, I'm trying to mix things up a bit.  This week, though, since it's the first week back to blogging, I'm going to post this one.

Today I'm Reading:

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

I've heard so many wonderful things about this series and figured this would be a great second book of this year. I'm loving it so far!

"Nothing is a coincidence. Everything has a purpose. You were meant to come to this castle, just as you were meant to be an assassin."

When magic has gone from the world, and a vicious king rules from his throne of glass, an assassin comes to the castle. She does not come to kill, but to win her freedom. If she can defeat twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition to find the greatest assassin in the land, she will become the King's Champion and be released from prison.

Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her.

And a princess from a foreign land will become the one thing Celaena never thought she'd have again: a friend.

But something evil dwells in the castle—and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying, horribly, one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival—and a desperate quest to root out the source of the evil before it destroys her world.

This Week I Plan To Read:

The Host by Stephenie Meyer

I've read this before, so this is a re-read, but I started it and would like to finish it this week.

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love.

Up Next:

 Caraval by Stephanie Garber
If Not For You by Debbie Macomber

Both of these books are fairly large, so I'm only going to leave this post at two books for this week. I'm also really excited about the two books that are up next. I received each of those through Netgalley.

I hope you all have a great day and as always....

Alright so it's day one of Bloggiesta and I'm super excited to get to work on this blog. Anyway, I'm getting back to it and Bloggiesta and a few other things are going to help me. One of which is a total revamp/rebrand of Ali's Bookshelf. This is one of my main goals. Changes Coming!!

So it's the first day of 2017 and I am super excited for the new year. 2016 wasn't a year that I actually enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, there were some great and exciting things that happened, but more terrible things happened than good. That's why I'm super excited for a whole new year and to me a new year means a new start.

As you can see above from the image, Ali's Bookshelf is going to be going through some branding changes and possibly even a new name! I really want to add life to my blog and some of the other things that I'm enjoying. Of course, this blog will still be filled with book posts and book chats, I just feel like that's only one part of my life that I want to share with you all and I would like to share more this year.

So get ready for some changes around here. I have a huge plan and it will take me a bit to get it all setup and going, but it's coming I promise!!

Every year I pick a word to live by for that year and this year I picked Happiness! This will also pertain to this blog. It used to bring me so much joy and happiness, it's time to get back to that. Along with the happiness in reading!  I'm tired of feeling like I have to post every day and that I have to read what I have to read. Where's the fun in that?

This year it's time to bring back to the fun and happiness in books!

I'll also be posting more about Bullet Journaling, which has become a huge part of my life. Planners have always been something I enjoyed, but I never stuck to one. I've stuck with the bullet journal now two years and I love it! So I'd love to share that with you as well.

I hope you'll all stick around and stick with me through these changes. As always...
