I Know It's Been A While...

So like the title of this blog states, I know it's been a while since I've really sat down and posted anything real to this blog and there is a big reason for this. I wanted to jump on here and do a small post letting you know what's going on with this blog and life in general for me.

As some of you know I've been around in the blogging/publishing world for a long time. Well, over ten years now. I've always had a dream to not just be a blogger reviewing other authors' books. I've wanted to be an author who has books out that bloggers/reviews are...well reviewing for. That's about to actually happen! That's where I've been and why I haven't been blogging here. Yep, one of my all-time biggest dreams is going to come true starting next year. Hopefully, sometime in January 2022, my first release, First to Fight will be available for everyone to read. The pre-order for the book is actually already available so if you want to check that out you can, just know the date on it isn't correct, but I'll explain that later.

It's been a crazy journey to get to where I am now. The book is with my editor right this very moment and she's supposed to have it ready for me by next month. I'm super excited! I will have revisions to input and I have to learn how to format the book...oh yeah I almost forget I'm self-publishing my books. Also when I say books, I mean a huge series. Like I have plans for over 15 books in this series so far. I probably should tell you more about the books themselves but I really can't just yet, once I can though I will make another post and tell you all about the series. I will tell you this though they are contemporary military adult romance. The first three of which will be released in 2022! The series is called the First to Fight series and I honestly can't wait to share them with everyone.

So much has happened it's all a bit crazy. My cover reveal happened yesterday so I can also share that with you here on this post.

You all might know the amazing cover artist who created this beautiful cover for me and has already created the next two as well. Rachel over at Parajunkee Designs made this for me and I'm seriously in love with it. (If you're an author and need covers, you really should check out her work, she was so fantastic to work with! )

The summary for First to Fight will be available soon as well.

As far as Ali's Bookshelf is concerned, I will no longer be taking review requests. I'm honestly not sure what I want to do just yet with this blog. It's been a part of my life for a long time and I don't want to just leave it. I'm thinking of maybe doing more lifestyle things on it or...well I'm not sure just yet. I will let you all know as soon as I do though. I hope you all will stick with me and go through this author's journey with me.  I will be blogging a lot over on my author's website. You can find that HERE.

Anyway, sorry for the rambly blog, but I really wanted to just touch base with everyone here and let you all know what's been going on. I hope you all have a great week and as always...

Review and Giveaway: Lover Unveiled by J.R. Ward

I am super excited to share my thoughts with you today on this spectacular book, though I'm pretty sure you all know how much I love any book written by J.R. Ward by now!  I'm also grateful that her amazing team asked me to be part of her book release tour for this book. So I want to send out a huge thanks to them and her as well.

Lover Unveiled by J.R. Ward
Publisher: Gallery Books
Published Date: April 20th 2021

Pages:  512 pages

Sahvage has been living under the radar for centuries—and he has every intention of of staying “dead and buried.” But when a civilian female sucks him into her dangerous battle with an evil as ancient as time, his protective side overrides his common sense.

Mae has lost everything, and desperation sets her on a collision course with fate. Determined to reverse a tragedy, she goes where mortals should fear to tread—and comes face-to-face with the Brotherhood’s new enemy. She also discovers a love she never expected to find with Sahvage, but there can be no future for them.

Knowing they will part, the two band together to fight against what Mae unknowingly unleashed—as the Brotherhood closes in to reclaim one of their damned, and evil vows to destroy them all…

Oh my oh my, she's done it again! I swear I say this every single time author J.R. Ward releases another book, but honestly it's the truth. She never ceases to amaze me and by now I shouldn't be surprised.  As always I'm going to try really hard not to add any spoilers in this review, though it's going to be so hard because I just want to scream it all from the rooftops. Anyway, let's get to it!

First let's chat about the writing style, as you all should already know, I love the writing style of this amazing author. She captures her readers really quick with her words and honestly you don't want to leave even when you read the last word. Her books stay with you and for me that's something that makes a great book/storyteller. Any book that has me thinking about it days and even weeks after reading it, well to me that's one hell of a book. I didn't want this one to end!

Second, MMA? Do I need to say more about that...yes I do. I love any book that has MMA characters in it and just that fact alone made me want to read it right away, like as soon as my hands touched this book.

At first, I wasn't too sure about Mae, if I'm being honest which I always am, I didn't like her at all in the beginning. By the end though I had come to really like her as a character. This book was a total roller coaster for me though, there were ups and downs and so many twists. She did set it up for some fantastic books to come though which is another thing that this spectacular author is amazing at. She always has me on the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen next and this book was no exception when it came to that. Like I said above, I couldn't get enough.

All in all this book was AMAZING!! I couldn't put it down, not even to make dinner. I can't wait to read more books from author J.R. Ward and this fantastic series. I can't say enough amazing things about The Black Dagger Brotherhood. It's one of my all time favorite series and this book just made it even more of a fav. If you haven't read this one or any of the books in this series, honestly what are you waiting for?

If you didn't already know by my review above and the image at the top of this post LOL I'm giving Lover Unveiled an Ali's Bookshelf rating of...
