Sophomore year broke Clementine Williams’ heart. She fell for her best friend’s boyfriend and long story short: he’s excused, but Clem is vilified and she heads into summer with zero social life. Enter her parents’ plan to spend the summer on their sailboat. Normally the idea of being stuck on a tiny boat with her parents and little sister would make Clem break out in hives, but floating away sounds pretty good right now. Then she meets James at one of their first stops along the river. He and his dad are sailing for the summer and he’s just the distraction Clem needs. Can he break down Clem’s walls and heal her broken heart? Told in alternating chapters that chronicle the year that broke Clem’s heart and the summer that healed it, Unbreak My Heart is a wonderful dual love story that fans of Sarah Dessen, Deb Caletti, and Susane Colasanti will flock to.

Review:

Alright, first off I want to say that I really enjoyed reading this book and it was a great story. But with that said there were a few things that really got on my nerves.  I want to get the little bad things out of the way before I can tell how great this book is.

So the few small things that got annoying to me were for one thing the main character is just way to whinny in this book.  Don't get me wrong I know she is a teen and they can be a little whinny but she takes it to a whole new level.  Second, I don't like the way she handles some of her so called friends.

Other than those two small things, I thought this was a great book.  I loved the plot. I mean come on, this is something that happens all the time.  Girl falls in love with best friends boyfriend, I couldn't wait to read this book.  I really also enjoyed reading and watching how the characters grew and developed throughout this story.  I do know throughout this whole book, I wasn't sure what was going to actually happen in the end.  I love books like that.  They aren't predictable and this one is defiantly not predictable.

I would recommend this book to any contemporary YA book lovers.  Its a great story and with a cast of amazing characters.
