It's Monday...What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Journey!

So this week, my reading time will be a bit more, with that being said I'm going to add another book to my list for this week as a just in case.
Today I'm Reading

(I'm still reading this one so it's back on my list this week!)

Center Ice
Author: Cate Cameron

Publisher: Entangled Crush

The hometown hockey hero won’t know what hit him… Karen Webber is in small-town hell. After her mother’s death, she moved to Corrigan Falls to live with strangers—her dad and his perfect, shiny new family—and there doesn’t seem to be room for a city girl with a chip on her shoulder. The only person who makes her feel like a real human being is Tyler MacDonald. But Karen isn’t interested in starting something with a player. And that’s all she keeps hearing about Tyler. Corrigan Falls is a hockey town, and Tyler’s the star player. But the viselike pressure from his father and his agent are sending him dangerously close to the edge. All people see is hockey—except Karen. Now they’ve managed to find something in each other that they both desperately need. And for the first time, Tyler is playing for keeps…

This Week I Plan To Read

Alias Hook
Author: Lisa Jensen
Publisher: Thomas Dunne Books

"Every child knows how the story ends. The wicked pirate captain is flung overboard, caught in the jaws of the monster crocodile who drags him down to a watery grave. But it was not yet my time to die. It's my fate to be trapped here forever, in a nightmare of childhood fancy, with that infernal, eternal boy." Meet Captain James Benjamin Hook, a witty, educated Restoration-era privateer cursed to play villain to a pack of malicious little boys in a pointless war that never ends. But everything changes when Stella Parrish, a forbidden grown woman, dreams her way to the Neverland in defiance of Pan’s rules. From the glamour of the Fairy Revels, to the secret ceremonies of the First Tribes, to the mysterious underwater temple beneath the Mermaid Lagoon, the magical forces of the Neverland open up for Stella as they never have for Hook. And in the pirate captain himself, she begins to see someone far more complex than the storybook villain. With Stella’s knowledge of folk and fairy tales, she might be Hook’s last chance for redemption and release if they can break his curse before Pan and his warrior boys hunt her down and drag Hook back to their neverending game. Alias Hook by Lisa Jensen is a beautifully and romantically written adult fairy tale.

So there you have it, the two books that I plan on reading this week. What are you reading this week?

Book Blogger Hop #9

Book Blogger Hop is another post I'm going to be trying out and this one has a topic each week, which is something I've been trying to bring to the blog.  I'm really excited about this one because I have a hard time coming up with something fresh to talk about and I'm hoping this helps.
If you would be interested in posting your own post, please CLICK HERE to learn more about this great hop!
This Weeks Question:
If you see a book you like but see it is 400 or 500+ pages, will you still read it?

Another easy one for me to answer this week. YES! I wills till read a book even if it was 800 or even more pages, I would still read it.  If it sounds good and I want to read, there isn't anything that will stop me from reading it. Except maybe time, but that's a whole other story.

Teaser Tuesday #61

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.

As soon as I hear the sirens coming down our street, I know. They're coming for Lara. Don't ask me how I know. I just do. I mean, she's been messed up for a while.

I just had to share a few extra lines, some of those were way to short.  But this book is fantastic so far.

Please, leave me a teaser below in the comments.  If you post your own teaser Tuesday post, please leave me a comment below so I can read your post as well.

What I Plan on Reading This Week

The Game of Love and Death
Author: Martha Brokenbrough
Publisher:  Arthur A. Levine Books

Antony and Cleopatra. Helen of Troy and Paris. Romeo and Juliet. And now . . . Henry and Flora. For centuries Love and Death have chosen their players. They have set the rules, rolled the dice, and kept close, ready to influence, angling for supremacy. And Death has always won. Always. Could there ever be one time, one place, one pair whose love would truly tip the balance? Meet Flora Saudade, an African-American girl who dreams of becoming the next Amelia Earhart by day and sings in the smoky jazz clubs of Seattle by night. Meet Henry Bishop, born a few blocks and a million worlds away, a white boy with his future assured — a wealthy adoptive family in the midst of the Great Depression, a college scholarship, and all the opportunities in the world seemingly available to him. The players have been chosen. The dice have been rolled. But when human beings make moves of their own, what happens next is anyone’s guess. Achingly romantic and brilliantly imagined, The Game of Love and Death is a love story you will never forget.

If I get time, I'm also going to read...(or at least start)

 Backlash
Author: Sarah Darer Littman
Publisher: Scholastic Press

He says: You're an awful person. He says: What makes you think I would ever ask you out? He says: The world would be a better place without you in it. Lara just got told off on Facebook. She thought that Christian liked her, that he was finally going to ask her to his school's homecoming dance. They've been talking online for weeks, so what's with the sudden change? And where does he get off saying horrible things on her wall? Even worse - are they true? It's been a long time since Lara's felt this bad, this depressed, this ugly. She's worked really hard to become pretty and happy - and make new friends after what happened in middle school. Bree used to be best friends with overweight, depressed Lara, but constantly listening to Lara's issues got to be too much. Secretly, Bree's glad Christian called Lara out. Lara's not nearly as amazing as people think. But no one realized just how far Christian's harsh comments would push Lara. Not even Bree. As online life collides with real life, things spiral out of control, and not just for Lara. Because when the truth starts to come together, the backlash is even more devastating than anyone could have ever imagined

More than likely if I start Backlash it will still be on next weeks list, due to the fact that I wont finish it this week.  I might not even get to start it, we shall see. Hope you all have a great week!

This Weeks Question:
If you had a chance to read a book or watch a movie that is not about a book you have read, which would you choose?

This is easy for me, I would read a book.  Movies don't always make me happy, but reading more times than not make me happy and I can lose myself in a good book for a few days, whereas a movie only lasts a few hours.

What about you? Read a book or watch a movie?

When Campbell's father died, he left her $1,262.56 - As much as he'd been able to stock away during his twenty year gig as a fire dancer for the "Spirit of Aloha" show at Disney's Polynesian Hotel. Coincidentally, that was exactly how much her fat uncle Gus was asking for his 1998 Volkswagen Beetle in Vapor, the only color worth having if y ou wanted to have a VW Beetle.

If you post your own teaser Tuesday post, please leave me a comment below so I can read your post as well.  If not leave me a teaser in the comments below.  I love reading them!

It's Monday...What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Journey!

Alright, this week it's going to be a slow week again, so here is the main book I'm going to be reading. I have a few manuscripts to read for work, that's why it's going to be a slow reading week this week, but hopefully I can pick it back up next week and read at least two books.

 What I'm Reading This Week!
The Kiss of Deception
Author: Mary E. Pearson
Publisher: Henry Holt

A princess must find her place in a reborn world. She flees on her wedding day. She steals ancient documents from the Chancellor's secret collection. She is pursued by bounty hunters sent by her own father. She is Princess Lia, seventeen, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan. The Kingdom of Morrighan is steeped in tradition and the stories of a bygone world, but some traditions Lia can't abide. Like having to marry someone she's never met to secure a political alliance. Fed up and ready for a new life, Lia flees to a distant village on the morning of her wedding. She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deceptions swirl and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—secrets that may unravel her world—even as she feels herself falling in love.

If I get a chance to read more than just this one books, I'll update this post, but more than likely this is it for me this week. Hope you all have a great Monday!

May's To Be Read List

Alright, it's time for May's To Be Read List!  I love posting these and keeping my fingers this month that I will be able to read all of these.  The only reason I'm a bit worried is that my new career is taking some of my reading time away, due to me having to read manuscripts and query letters.  I'm going to try really hard to get all of these read though. I will start this list as soon as I finish the book I'm still reading right now, The Red Queen! (Which is amazing by the way!)

Books On My List

The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough
The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
Center Ice by Cate Cameron

(These two books are if I get the other three finished.)

Backlash by Sara Darer Littman
The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder

I'm hoping there is time for all of these! We shall see.
