Political consultant Amy Fields only experienced jealousy once in her life, and that’s the way she’d like to keep it. Watching her older sister carry-on with the boy she absolutely adored in high school enough to make her never want to feel second-best again.

Now, successful in her own right. She’s making strides in her career and meeting interesting people, but one client takes a keen interest in her life – so much so, he’s determined to ensure she never finds a happy ending with the boy she loved long ago.

Prince Lucio Aussa can have any woman he wants, but he’s grown tired of superficial relationships. When his brother convinces him that he can find the perfect bride online, Lucio reluctantly agrees to go along with the plan. The search dredges up old feelings about Amy’s older sister, and prompts him to want to rekindle their broken relationship. But when the internet search points to Amy as his perfect mate, that changes everything. Now, he must reconcile the feelings he had for her sister with the realization that Amy is far more interesting than she ever was. To make matters worse, as his feelings for her grow, an enemy emerges threatening to ruin any hope of love for either of them.

Can the overcome their preconceived notions about each other and find common ground together or will yet another obstacle stand in their way?

 Excerpt

She stilled and the sensation disappeared once the man went into the elevator and was out of sight. Her pulse returned to normal. She waited another few seconds and headed back out into the dreary evening. The fog made the world seem darker.

Amy opened the door, head down, and walked right into a wall of muscled chest. Worried it was the man in the bowler hat, she swallowed a cry, stepped back into the foyer of the building and looked up at the man who was at least a foot taller than her. Her breath caught in her throat. Lucio Aussa still seemed larger than life.

"Amy Fields?" His rich tones were deeper and brought a chill of adult awareness.

She dropped her umbrella to the linoleum. She knelt down to pick it up, as did he. They almost bumped heads but she let him get her umbrella and he handed it back to her. "You're prettier than I remember."

"You remember me?" She straightened, her legs shaky.

"You're Evie's little sister." He stood too.

Right. Her stomach shouldn't flip. He had to get married soon, as the world knew, and her sister was the Fields girl he’d been interested in. It was too bad Evie intended to marry His Grace Michael Flynn, and be his duchess. Why was Lucio here, speaking to her right now? "That's right. My sister doesn't work with me or anything…”

"It's raining pretty heavily. Let me give you a ride." He opened the door, allowing a cool rush of air inside.

There was no reason her stomach should tense. His dark, shining hair curled over his ears and those dark brown eyes tempted her to swoon. Amy Fields never swooned. She lowered her head, her face hot with embarrassment. "I don't want to be a bother, Your Highness."

"I came to talk to you,” he said. “So it would be my pleasure, Amy."

He had? Her named rolled off his tongue with ease. Her chest warmed from his nearness, and her cheeks must be scarlet at this point. "If you’re here to order an analysis of your country, you’ll need to come back in the morning and sign a contract with my boss."

"I'm not here to hire you." A servant with a six-foot wide umbrella met them at the front door and Lucio led her toward his waiting limo on the street corner. "Not exactly anyway."

The servant opened the rear passenger door and she slid in across the leather seat. As Lucio closed the door, sitting so close to her their legs touched, she was rocketed back to high school Amy, who’d stared at him with longing as she wished he'd notice her, but then her sister would jump in front of her and throw herself at him. Evie had been relentless in her quest to one day be a princess. Amy shook off the memory as the car rolled down the street. She said, "I live out in Clapham."

"I know. You're doing pretty well for yourself." Drops of rain glistened on Lucio’s shoes. "I was hoping you'd join me for a quick dinner so we can talk."

Dinner? With him? It seemed like a dream where any second someone would yell “gotcha”, but she reigned in her imagination. He was a prince, and he’d belonged to Evie. She lifted her chin, intending to say no, but his brown eyes persuaded her to change her mind. "Okay. Dinner. I am curious, I’ll admit."

Giving in was a bad trait she needed to work on. His hand brushed against her leg but jerked back fast so she knew it had been an accident. However, the jolt she felt was unexpected. "Thanks." He turned toward the driver. "Please take us to Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester."

USA Today Bestselling Author, Victoria Pinder grew up in Irish Catholic Boston before moving to the Miami sun. She’s worked in engineering, after passing many tests proving how easy Math came to her. Then hating her life at the age of twenty four, she decided to go to law school. Four years later, after passing the bar and practicing very little, she realized that she hates the practice of law. She refused to one day turn 50 and realize she had nothing but her career and hours at a desk. After realizing she needed change, she became a high school teacher. Teaching is rewarding, but writing is a passion.

During all this time, she always wrote stories to entertain herself or calm down. Her parents are practical minded people demanding a job, and Victoria spent too many years living other people’s dreams, but when she sat down to see what skill she had that matched what she enjoyed doing, writing became so obvious. The middle school year book when someone wrote in it that one day she’d be a writer made sense when she turned thirty.

She’s always been determined. She is amazing, adventurous and assured on a regular basis. Her website is  www.victoriapinder.com.

Teaser Tuesday #122

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other Teaser Tuesday participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser

Kylie Masters watched him walk into her shop like he owned it while simultaneously pretending not to notice him. A tricky balancing act that she'd gotten good at. Problem was, like it or not, her attention was caught and captured by the six-foot, leanly muscled, scowling guy now standing directly in front of her, hands shoved in his pockets, body language clearly set to Frustrated Male.

I am loving this book so far! Can't wait to share my full thoughts with you next week, when I review this fantastic book for the blog tour. Have you read this one? If yes, tell me your thoughts below!

Ali's Blogging To Do List #1

I'm not sure if my blogger friends out there are like me, but I am a lister! I have to know in advance which posts are going to go up when and I have a running to do list for my blog. With all of that, I really want to make it a bit simpliar and start a weekly post called Ali's Blogging To Do List! Yep, I know real original, but I figured keeping it simple would work easier. This is actually based on a post that I tried a few times in the past called Task it Tuesday, but sadly from what I'm seeing the blogger that started it is no longer doing that post. CLICK Here to go to her blog.  Which really makes me sad, because honestly I would have just latched on the meme and started posting it instead.

Anyway, my plan is weekly or maybe bi-weekly, make a post on Monday's with a few items I want to get done on my blog that week. I will go back and mark off items once they're finished. I'm hoping this will help me get back into the groove of blogging and help me get some tasks done that I've been wanting to mark off my list for awhile now.

  • Finish reading the new book by Jill Shalvis, About that Kiss.
  • Write the Review for About that Kiss and schedule it
  • Write two other reviews and schedule them (I'm really behind on reviews)
  • Write a few Ali Talks posts and schedule them.
  • Get my Blogging Calendar set back up and ready to use

So I'm still working on my TBR spreadsheet. I still have about a hundred books to add and that doesn't count my Ebooks! YIKES. I better get to work.

Alright so that's pretty much it for this week. I'm hoping this post will help me stay a bit more organized and I hope you all don't mind these types of posts.

Do you have a blogging to do list like me or do you fly by the seat of your pants when it comes to blogging/reading?

Cover Reveal: All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover

I'm super excited that I get the chance to show you all the cover for author Colleen Hoover's upcoming release, All Your Perfects! I'm hoping to get to review this one once it's released as well. I love Colleen Hoover's books so I jumped at the chance to share this with you all.

All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover
What do you all think of this cover?  Are you in love with it as much as I am?

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us—whose writing is “emotionally wrenching and utterly original” (Sarah Shepard, New York Times bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars series)—delivers a tour de force novel about a troubled marriage and the one old forgotten promise that might be able to save it.

Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.

All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?

"And obviously we're suspending you until we've got to the bottom of this." Ed half laughed. "Are you kidding me? You can't suspend me. It's my company." He threw the foam ball up in the air and caught it, turning away from them. Nobody moved. "I'm not going. This is our company. Tell them, Ronan."

Have you read this one? I love Jojo Moyes writing style, I'm just not sure about this one yet. Though I did just start it. What are your thoughts?

Week At A Glance

Ali's Week at a Glance is where I get to share with you somethings that aren't blog related and showcase books I've received this week as well as ones I've read. I also like to add a few other things to this post as well every week.

Let's talk about what's been going on this past week, shall we? My week totally sucked, I ended up with the flu and didn't get much done at all. Not even in the reading department, even though I was at home I just didn't feel good enough to read at all. Which totally sucks because I really wanted to finish Messenger by Lois Lowry, but hopefully I can finish that this upcoming week and start something new.

I'm hoping that I'm almost over the flu, cross your fingers for me, please.

So this week was a pretty good week of blogging, even though I did have the flu. I had a few blog posts already scheduled luckily.

So this week I picked up a few new arcs from Netgalley that I'm super excited about.  Though I have made a promise to myself that I will slow down on my requests through NetGalley, it's really hard though lol.  I made this promise because I have so many books that I already own that I want to read and seem to never get to because of other books.

So since I had the flu this week I didn't get many steps in at all. Which really sucks!

Steps: 3000

Yep that's for the whole week. I didn't move much at all. Hopefully this next week I can get back into the groove and get my steps back up where they have been.

I love this quote so much that I had to share it on Instagram this week. I didn't really have a chance to take a lot of pics with being sick, but I did manage this one.

So how was your week? Unlike me where you able to get any reading done?

Bout of Books Wrap Up

I haven't had a chance to post my wrap up for the read-a-thon Bout of Books mainly because I ended up getting the flu. EWWW anyway, I figured I would go ahead and share with you what I read and all that jazz.

So for Bout of books, even though I ended up getting sick, I was able to finish two books and started the third. Which for me is great. During read-a-thons I always lose interest around the end of the first beginning of the second book. So for me this was a sucessful read-a-thon.

Books Read: 2
Pages Read: 463 pages

I haven't decided if I want to participate in any other read-a-thons this year, but I'll let you know if I decide to do so.

If you participated, how did you do?

Mini Review: Broken Prince by Erin Watt

Title: Broken Prince
Author: Erin Watt
Publisher: Everafter Romance
Publication Date:  July 25th 2016
Format: Ebook
Pages:  370 pages
ISBN #: 1682305031
From wharf fights and school brawls to crumbling lives inside glittery mansions, one guy tries to save himself.

THESE ROYALS WILL RUIN YOU...

Reed Royal has it all—looks, status, money. The girls at his elite prep school line up to date him, the guys want to be him, but Reed never gave a damn about anyone but his family until Ella Harper walked into his life.

What started off as burning resentment and the need to make his father’s new ward suffer turned into something else entirely—keep Ella close. Keep Ella safe. But when one foolish mistake drives her out of Reed’s arms and brings chaos to the Royal household, Reed’s entire world begins to fall apart around him.

Ella doesn’t want him anymore. She says they’ll only destroy each other.

SHE MIGHT BE RIGHT.

Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It’s like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he’s going to win back his princess, he’ll need to prove himself Royally worthy.

I know you're already heard me say a few times how much I adore this series and the second book was just as much perfection as the first. Well guess you have to read me saying that again. LOL. Anyway, I adored this book as much as the first, at first I wasn't sure I was going to, mainly because we all know how second books in series that we love tend to be, but this one wasn't at all like that.

I love Reed Royal and the whole Royal family so much. Yes there is tension between the whole family and Ella at first, but I love how they come together. Even when she thinks that they aren't right for each other we all know that they are just perfect. Ella and Reed became one of my all time favorite ships. No matter what each of them go through they always pull through and are stronger than they think they are. I for one love that about these characters, they are all flawed but so strong. They never just give up even if they really want to.

I read this whole series in just a few days and I can't wait to read the next one. Yep I already have it! This duo of authors are amazing. Their writing style is perfection and honestly before now I had no clue that it was two authors and not just one. Which says a lot about the writing. It's so seemless. I also really enjoyed the action in this book, just as much as the first! Which is saying something as well.

I can't get enough of this family and their story. I need more!  Especially because of the freakin ending. Seriously I think these authors enjoy killing us with cliff hangers! Fair warning.
