Three Mini Me Corner Reviews from Amazing Scholastic Titles

Alright so this post is going to be even more fun than normal.  This Mini Me Corner review is going to be for three books instead of just one.  Plus my little boy Braxton put his two sense into this one as well.  Seeing as one of the books was really for a boy I thought I would bring him into the mix as well.

1st Review: Hot Wheels: Double Duel

By Ace Landers
Illustrated by Dave White
Published by Scholastic

I loved reading this book with Braxton, he loved the action in the story and the pictures of course.  I loved watching him mimic the action of the car flying over the canyon and how the green team car kept trying even though he got it wrong a few times.  The illustrations in this book are great for a level 1 book and Braxton was able to read a long with me and knew exactly what was going on while I read it.  The words were perfect for him (he's 5 years old).  We've actually read this book over and over and it doesn't get old.

He loves this book and I love how easy it is for him to read it to me even.   I really like how the level one books make the words bigger so they can read it easier.  He does have to ask me what some words are of course, but that's to be expected.  I love how simple the story is for him to understand but still has enough action in it to hold his attention.

All in all We would give this book:

2nd Review: The Story of Peppa Pig

Based on the TV Show
Published by Scholastic

Alright, my daughter loves this show on TV so I thought she would love this book and I wasn't disappointed.  To say she loved it doesn't even come close really.  She went ecstatic when it was delivered to our house.

There are many things I love about this book, one being the color of the illustrations.  The colors are bright and vivid and so pleasing to the eye.  That is one thing I love about children's books and this one was a perfect example of the colors I love to see.  The illustrations themselves were pretty much like the show on TV which of course we love as well.  The plot of the story is cute and really kept Samantha's attention.  The first time we read the book she was dying to know what happened next every time we finished a page.

All in all another big hit from Scholastic for our family!

3rd Review: The Three Little Pigs and the Somewhat Bad Wolf

by Mark Teague
Illustrated by Mark Teague
Published by Scholastic

By far this is my favorite book of the three reviews on this post and I would have to say the same for my kids as well.  They have asked to read this book over and over and over, and they already know the words by heart.

The illustrations in this cute story are exquisite and the plot is what you would expect, well mostly up until the end that is.  I don't want to give it away, but I loved how the author changed up this well known story a bit.  This story has become one of my kids favorites and I recommend it to anyone with kids.

The words are a little bit harder for my five year old by Samantha my eight year old reads this book to me.  This children's author is one that we will be trying to find more of his books to read.

Until next time, make sure your reading with your kids.  We do every single night!!! Happy Reading.
