Turning Point Blog Tour Guest Post and Giveaway

So today I have a great blog tour for you all with a guest post and a giveaway! So let's get to it shall we.

Thank you to Ali’s Bookshelf for hosting me on the blog tour for TURNING POINT, the third book in The Kathleen Turner Series.  There will be a total of five books in the series.  Book four, OUT OF TURN, will be released on 12/17/13.
Ali had some questions for me today, including what a typical day was like for me.  Well, I’d love to say I drink my morning coffee on the veranda of my Italian villa overlooking the Mediterranean, but alas, my life is not so exotic.  I live in the Midwest and have a husband and two daughters, so mornings consist of first waking them, then later yelling from downstairs that they “BETTER GET DOWN HERE NOW OR YOU’LL BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!”

I drop the kids off at school and am usually working by 8 am.  I work all day and try to finish up at five, but too often I find myself with my laptop open and working evenings and weekends, too.  It’s just so much more fun to write than to say, do the laundry or clean out the closets.
Genres I read aren’t usually the genre I write.  Some writers can read what they write and others can’t – I’m of the latter group.  I love historical romance (Regency is my favorite) along with political thrillers and urban fantasy.  Some of my favorite authors include Eloisa James, Jane Feather, Charlaine Harris, Lorraine Heath, Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Kresley Cole, and JR Ward.  I also enjoy historical non-fiction (my college degree is in History) and my favorite author there is David Hackett Fischer (I can’t recommend his book Washington’s Crossing enough).  Lately I’ve been feeling nostalgic for when I first discovered The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris so I decided to reread the series.  I just started Club Dead.
Ali asked if I’m a “plotter or a pantsy.”  I’m actually a bit of both.  When I want to start a story, I just start writing with only a vague idea of what the plot will be.  I’m more interested in getting into who the characters are.  After a couple of chapters, I’ll sit down and more fully sketch out the plot, which will inevitably change as I write the book.  I rarely will go back and do any big changes in the story – each chapter is relatively long (at around 8,000 words) and I don’t go past a chapter until I’m sure that it’s complete and moving in the right direction.

Thanks for being on the blog today Tiffany.  Alright now let's learn some about this great book and its author.

After her promotion from law firm Runner to Investigator, Kathleen Turner is learning the ropes of her new job from none other than assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon, a situation her boyfriend Blane Kirk is none too happy about. But the lessons with Kathleen take a back seat when Kade becomes a target. Previously untouchable, his enemies now know of the chink in his armor – his brother’s girlfriend. And Kade’s not the only thing coming between Kathleen and Blane. From Blane’s inexplicable defense of a man guilty of a horrible crime, to a mysterious stranger from Kathleen’s past, to Kathleen’ risky investigation into human traffickers, the obstacles mount against a relationship that’s just begun to find trust again. While Blane considers a job offer that would take him back to the front lines in the war on terror, Kathleen is determined to pursue her new career, with or without his approval. Unfortunately, her current case is far more dangerous than anyone knows. Someone close to Blane will go to extreme lengths to split them up, lengths that may prove worse than death for Kathleen. Kathleen, Blane and Kade must atone for the sins of the past and the present. The fallout will force Kathleen to a turning point…in her career, and her life.

Tiffany is an IT Manager by day and an author at night and any other time she can find to write. Two daughters, a husband and a dog that’s only still alive after chewing so much furniture because he’s so cute keep her very busy. Tiffany graduated from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1995 with degrees in History and Social Studies Education and married in December of 1997. While wanting to go to law school, the expense was just too great so she decided to go into the IT field. A self-taught network specialist, she was very fortunate to have been mentored by another amazing woman in the IT field and achieved her Microsoft Certified System Engineer certification in 1999. Tiffany worked as a Technical Instructor for a while before staying home for a year with her newborn daughter. Tiffany went back to work in 2001 as an IT Consultant and stayed at the same business for ten years before recently leaving for an IT Manager position. Reading and entertaining are two of her favorite hobbies and Tiffany reads all different types of books – History, Science-Fiction, Political Thrillers and Romance are her favorite genres. Murder-mystery dinners are one of her favorite parties to throw where she can polish her skills in the kitchen while having fun with friends. Tiffany and her family make their home in Kansas City, Missouri, not far from where she was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri.
