Caine's back with a bang after the lacklustre performance as our favourite Morganville residents go on a road trip with a twist to Dallas. Of course, this being Morganville, things don't go exactly to plan, especially when Oliver escorts them and insists on a series of short stops that result in disaster and near death experiences for all involved. When they stumble upon the little town of Blacke, it appears there's a minor mystery to be solved as well. Put quite simply, it appears that wherever the Glass House residents go, death, danger and wanton destruction follows right behind them.

Morganville is pretty normal in this visit for a change as it's human drama, rather than vampire drama that dominates. Eve's been cast in the town play, alongside Oliver and an annoying new character called Kim who instantly rubs Claire up the wrong way. Events continue to unfurl and in time it's clear that Kim's little video project is not all it's cracked up to be, in fact, it's a lot more! Throw in a crazy vampire computer out for revenge and it is, on balance, a pretty normal few weeks in Morganville.

Normal life in Morganville has gone to hell in a fast car and shows no sign of coming back any time soon in this book. Bishop is in control, Amelie and her vampires are in hiding, and Claire is Bishop's evil minion, delivering his messages and carrying out his dirty work all over town. Michael is still under Bishop's spell, Shane's in a jail cell with his father and Eve is holding the fort at the Glass House. Everything has changed, the citizens of Morganville, Amelie's rebels and the humans alike, are all living in fear of their lives; Morganville got even scarier! But will it stay that way? Amelie is building a resistance but it's taking time, the vampire disease is getting worse and Myrnin is completely crazy (well, crazier than normal!) and dragging everyone into his whirlpool. It's up to Claire to make the peace and bring life in Morganville back on the rails, but it's not going to be easy.

Once again, the world of Morganville is full of drama and tension! The book continues straight on from where 'Feast of Fools' left off. Claire and the other residents of the Glass House, as well as a selection of loyal humans and vampires, are all about to head off to complete tasks set by Amelie to try and save the town from Bishop and his followers. As you'd expect in Morganville, this doesn't all go entirely to plan! In addition to fighting Bishop's evil bunch of vampires, there are humans becoming restless with the vampire rule, vampires going missing, surprise arrivals, natural disasters, betrayals and one final decision that really, Claire has no choice in - swear allegiance to Bishop or die.

New arrivals, New Tensions, All Leading to Deadly Consequences.

Review: Feast of Fools by Rachel Caine

IN A GLANCE: New arrivals, new tensions, all leading to deadly consequences.

Once again, Morganville is more deadly than bathing in a sea full of sharks when you've got a papercut! At the end of 'Midnight Alley', Amelie's crazy vampire father arrived (there's something about crazy dad's in this series!) and started to make himself comfy at the Glass House, and that is exactly where 'Feast of Fools' kicks off, with Bishop (and his two cronies) demanding breakfast. The book then follows the lead up to the grand feast Amelie is throwing to mark the arrival of 'Elder Bishop', but it's a feast where danger faces all who attend. In a relatively normal week in Morganville, the feast draws ever nearer, both Shane and Claire, and Michael and Eve, face relationship problems as a result of the chaos Bishop has brought to town. Finish with a collection of 'mini' cliff hangers throughout the final chapters as well as a fantastic final conundrum and you have your classic Morganville, except someone knocked the drama up a notch!

As always, the residents of Morganville never cease to entertain, they never get a quiet moment to themselves either, but that's life in Morganville for you! In the third book of the series things go from bad to worse for our little family of social misfits. Despite turning vampire, Michael is more of a misfit than ever, Shane is, well Shane, and Eve gets even more trouble from her crazy brother and the fact she's now a 'fang banger'. Whilst quiet little Claire isn't really all that quiet now, she's grown into somewhat of a Morganville native, despite only living there for a few months. She's thrown head first into a world of vampire secrets and danger, becoming the first human to be entrusted with something that could bring chaos to Morganville. Throw in some crazy parties, violence, near death experiences and an unexpected visitor and you have your average foray into the crazy world of Morganville.
