My Top 10 Favorite Reads of 2018

At first I wasn't going to post anything for the last day of the year, I was just going to enjoy the night and ring in the new year re-reading a book that I will always love for many reasons, but I decided to try to put together a top 10 list for the end of the year. So here is my Top 10 Favorite Books of the year!

2018 has been a fantastic reading year for me, I finished 122 books and I haven't done that in a very very long time. I honestly think I was able to read so many books mainly because I didn't force myself to read anything. There was no pressure this year for me to read certain books. I'm hoping to bring that into 2019 and have another amazing reading year. Anyway, below is my favorite books of this year.

Let's get this list starter, book number 10 on my list is Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis

Now I've read a lot of books by this fantastic author and a few of them are on this list, but I loved this book so much. Gave it a five puppy rating and I can't wait to read more Heartbreaker Bay novels. I need more of these characters so much!

Book 9 on my list is To the Moon and Back by Karen Kingsbury

This book honestly made me cry all the way through it! It's that fanastic and the writing OMG it's just breathtaking. Like all Karen Kingsbury books this one makes you feel every emotion the characters are going through. This one really touched me due the other topic of the Oklahoma City Boming and it explaing the memorial. I helped raise money for a few of the children's chairs back when the tragic event happened, so this really was a hard story for me to read but one I truely loved!

Now for book number 8... No One But You by Brenda Novak

Anyone that knows me well knows I love Brenda Novak books and this one has turned out to be one of my all time favorites!  I fell in love with the main characters of this story right away and wanted them to get that happily ever after!

Book 7 on my list is The Good Luck Sister by Jill Shalvis

Yep I told you I read a lot of books by her this year. A huge thanks goes out to her publisher for this. Anyway, this was one of my favorites of her's this year. It's actually a short read but one that I fell in love with and couldn't put down.

Book 6 is Crossing Hope by Kimberly Kincaid

Another favorite author from this year, I read this whole series and loved each and every book that I've read by her. She creates the best book boyfriends...just saying! LOL I love her way of making you fall for her characters and really wanting to them to succeed in everything!

Book 5 on my list is Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire

Now I know this series is on a lot of people's favorites! I loved this series, so far, so much. I loved getting to see what it's like for those kids that went through those doors them came back and what their lives are like afterward. I can't wait to read the next book in this series when it is released in 2019.

Books 4 and 3 on my list are  Thunderhead Neal Shusterman and Scythe

I know, I know these are two books from the same series, but they both needed to be mentioned. I love love love both of these books for different reasons. One being the female lead character, I love her way of being and the way she is caring. Now I also love the male lead character for the oppsite reasons I love him because he is straight to the point and well okay he's caring too, but in the second book he's just had enough.

2. My Commander by Alanea Alder

Now if I was doing a top 20 of this year, each and every book in this series would be on my list. I love each and every one of them. I love all the characters and these books are so freaking funny. I laughed the whole way through the first book and all the others as well. Let's just say Meryn is my spirit animal and she's not even a shifter!!  If you haven't read these books it's a must. OH and I must say right now, these are majorly adult books! Just a heads up.

And now it's time for my number one pick of the year! I read this early in the year and I haven't been able to stop thinking about this book. I've told everyone I know to read it and I'll probably re-read it at some point in the near future. Are you ready to see which book I'm talking about?

1. Sky In The Deep by Adrienne Young

YES! I love this book so much. It has fanasty and vikings. Something I never thought I would read about and love, but honestly I couldn't put this book down. I had to know what was going to happen next. Sky in the Deep is so well written and the main character, she's a strong female lead, one that I was screaming with and felt like I was right there in every battle with her. I need more books by this author and can't wait to read each one. I can't say enough amazing things about this book. If you haven't read this one, serioiusly trust me it's worth the read.

Alright so there you have it, my favorite reads of 2018! I can't believe it's almost over.

Anyway, is there a book that should have been on my list that you loved this year? Or are any of my favorites on your list. Let me know down below in the comments.

Happy New Year everyone and

Top 10 Books I Want To Read In 2018

So today I wanted to share with you the top 10 books I realy want to get to in 2018. I know you're going to look at this post and say " but Ali I thought you weren't going to post any TBR's this year." I'm not, these are just a list of books that I would love to get to this year. It doesn't mean I'm actually going to read them, I'm going to do my best though because they are books I'm dying to read. I am cheating a little with one of the choices, mainly beacause it's a box set lol. (And as you're reading this I've already read two of the books in the set!) So without further ado, let's do this!

These are in no certain order, but there is one on here that scares the crap out of me mainly because of it's size. It's the reason I haven't read it yet. You'll know exactly which one I'm talking about as soon as you see it!

1. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black - I just got this book and I can't wait to read it! More than likely I'm going to read in it Feburary! That's exactly how excited I am about it. I just hope it exceeds the hype.

2. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab - Now I have read this one before, but I want to finish the series so I'm going to be doing a re-read of this one so I can get back into the world and remember all the different London's!

3. The Giver Quartet by Lois Lowry - Okay this is the book/books I'm cheating with on this list. I've already read The Giver and Gathering Blue this month and I'm going to try to finish The Messenger by the end of Jan. That's the reason I'm counting this as one! I love this series so far but I really need to know how it's all going to connect!

4. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon - This book series has me so intregued!  I can't wait to start this one, but it's rather large. (not the one that I was talking about earlier) I hope to be able to tackle this one this year, plus I already have the second book in the series waiting as well.

5. Everless by Sara Holland - Now this book has had me going crazy over the cover and the plot since I first heard about it. I got my copy from Amazon the other day and I want to dive right in so bad. I'm just worried about the hype. So I might wait a few months till the hype dies down a bit before I start it. Though it sounds amazing!

6. Half Bad by Sally Green - Now this series has been on my shelf for awhile now and I think it's time to finally read it. Everyone keeps telling me to pick it up, so it's time. I've honestly heard nothing but great stuff about this book.

7. And I Darken by Kiersten White - Another book that's been on my shelf since last year and I really really want to get to it this year. I love this authors writing style and I can't wait to dive right in.  I don't even have a good reason why I haven't read this one yet, I even have the next book in the saga!

8. Red Rising by Pierce Brown - Again I have heard nothing but amazing things about this book and I have no reason for why I haven't read it yet. I think it's time to pick this one up right away!

9. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon - Yep you guessed it, this is the one that scares the crap out of me because of it's sheer size. Have you seen how many pages are in this book? 850 Pages! I have it on audio as well and it's over 32 hours long. I will get to this book this year though. This is one of my goals, I love this show so much, I just know I'm going to love the book even more.

10. Snow like Ashes by Sara Raasch - I have this whole series just sitting on my shelf and I want to get to the whole series this year, but if I can't I want to at least start it. This is another series I can't wait to jump into.

Like I said above, this isn't really a TBR post, it's just a list of books that I would really love to get to this year. The main goal this year is to bring the joy back into reading for me and if I get to these then that's awesome, if not then there is always next year. Though some of these I know I will read!

Have you read any of these books? What are your thoughts and what are a few books that you're dying to read this year? Let me know in the comments below.

Top 10 Adult Books That I Want to Read

Hello, everyone! I hope you're all having a great day. Today I wanted to do something a bit different and showcase a few books that I'm wanting to read soon.  Below is the Top 10 Adult Books That I Want to Read in the near future. I know this is something very different for me, I usually showcase mostly Young Adult, but I figured some of my readers are like me and do like an adult book sometimes. I would love to have each of these read by the end of the year.  Most of these books are for mature eyes so yeah.

Let's do this!

This whole series is amazing, I enjoy this authors writing style and her books always make me laugh. This is the last book in the series and though I'm sad that it's the last book, I'm excited to read it.

The steamy conclusion of C. L. Parker’s Monkey Business Trio

They have been rivals who fought until the bitter end and lovers who know every sensual inch of each other’s bodies. Now sports agents Cassidy Whalen and Shaw Matthews are about to become the one thing they never expected to be: parents. But this new dynamic to their relationship threatens to fizzle the sizzling desire that once held them in thrall to each other. If salvation is only a forbidden fantasy away, then Shaw and the woman he loves must embark on the adventure of their lives.

Cassidy is aching to reignite their connection. In steamy assignations in strange places, she and Shaw live out their most intimate desires—and reveal their deepest secrets. But as Shaw works overtime to sign a superstar athlete, a corporate reshuffling could be a game-changer. Can Cassidy and Shaw save their relationship and have it all—a career, family, and passion that never quits?

I must say this is a book that I've been dying to get my hands on and read, I love this author's books!

From the author of Once Upon a Cowboy (“Sexy, charming, and perfectly heartwarming.”—Lauren Layne) comes another sweet novel of the Whisper Creek Ranch, where sizzling Montana men melt the most stubborn hearts.

After Alexis Maguire’s wedding day comes and goes without a groom, she decides that it’s time for a change. Tired of being the dependable, steady—and apparently boring—one, Alexis hopes that a cross-country road trip will help her loosen up and find her inner sparkle. Her first stop is the Whisper Creek Ranch, where the hot wranglers are sure to bring out her inner party girl. The trouble is, she can’t stand pretending to be someone she’s not—especially around the cowboy who tempts her to stay put.

Gunnar Peterson has spent six months working at Whisper Creek, and he’s never been happier. Having grown up an army brat, he’s ready to put down roots, and the only thing missing is a woman to share his life with. When Alexis blows into town, Gunnar thinks he may have met his match, despite the wild-child facade he sees right through. But Alexis swears she won’t settle down anytime soon—so it’s up to Gunnar to convince her that what she’s looking for . . . is right here.

Do I even need to say why this book is on this list. Okay it's because of the author and I loved the first book in the series. Plus it's Kentucky men! (Just saying.)

#1 New York Times bestselling author J. R. Ward delivers the second novel in her Bourbon Kings series—a sweeping saga of a Southern dynasty struggling to maintain a façade of privilege and prosperity, while secrets and indiscretions threaten its very foundation…

In Charlemont, Kentucky, the Bradford family is the crème de la crème of high society—just like their exclusive brand of bourbon. And their complicated lives and vast estate are run by a discrete staff who inevitably become embroiled in their affairs. This is especially true now, when the apparent suicide of the family patriarch is starting to look more and more like murder…

No one is above suspicion—especially the eldest Bradford son, Edward. The bad blood between him and his father is known far and wide, and he is aware that he could be named a suspect. As the investigation into the death intensifies, he keeps himself busy at the bottom of a bottle—as well as with his former horse trainer’s daughter. Meanwhile, the family’s financial future lies in the perfectly manicured hands of a business rival, a woman who wants Edward all to herself.

Everything has consequences; everybody has secrets. And few can be trusted. Then, at the very brink of the family’s demise, someone thought lost to them forever returns to the fold. Maxwell Bradford has come home. But is he a savior...or the worst of all the sinners?

Another one of my favorite authors! I adore everything written by her.

Sometimes you have to create your own destiny...
Christy Knight grew up in Destiny, Ohio, but lately she feels that her future lies elsewhere. Her parents are gone and the beautiful jewelry she creates doesn't pay the bills. Maybe it's time for Christy to grow up and find a guy who's smart, sexy, and solvent. Her rugged handyman neighbor fits the first two categories, but he's all wrong for her. If only he didn't have such captivating blue eyes.

Wary of trusting others, Jack DuVall hasn't been entirely honest with Christy. He's not really a handyman. He's not really broke. And sharing the long drive to visit her beloved grandpa isn't just about gallantry—he finds gorgeous, feisty Christy completely irresistible.

When secrets are exposed, Jack and Christy struggle to find their way back to one another, but the quirky seaside town of Coral Cove could prove the perfect place to find a red-hot destiny of their own.

I am super excited to read this one, it's been on my shelf for over a year and this author is super sweet. I read the first chapter the first night I bought this one, but was at a convention and haven't gotten the chance to pick it back up yet. I think I need to make the time now though.

Leaving him was Impossible…

It took everything she had for FBI Special Agent Danica Beckett to walk away from the man she loved. But if she wants to save his life, she has to keep her distance. Now, with a killer on the loose and the stakes higher than ever before, the Department of Covert Ops is forcing these former lovers into an uneasy alliance…whether they like it or not.

Seeing her again is even worse

The last thing Clayne Buchanan wants is to be shackled to the woman who broke his heart. She gets under his skin in a way no one ever has and makes him want things he has no right to anymore. All he has to do is suffer through this case and he can be free of her for good. But when Clayne finds out why Danica left in the first place, everything he’s tried to bury comes roaring back—and there’s no way this wolf shifter is going to take no for an answer this time.

This one is another book that's been on my shelf for awhile, though it sounds amazing. I can't wait to pick it up and read it.

When nurse Tish Everett forced open the pesky but lovely locket she found at an estate sale, she had no idea she was answering the call of Criminy Stain, from the far off land of Sang. He’d cast a spell for her, but when she’s transported right to him, she’s not so sure she’s ready to be under the spell of another man. (It didn’t go so well last time with controlling, abusive, domineering Jeff.) If only Criminy wasn’t so deliciously rakish….

Half the inhabitants of Sang are Pinkies—human—and the other half are Bludmen, who in Tish’s world would be called vampires. But they don’t mess with any of the bat/coffin/no sunlight nonsense. They’re rather like you and me, just more fabulous, long living, and mostly indestructible. (They're also very good kissers.) But when the evil Mayor of Manchester (formerly Bludchester) redoubles his efforts to rid Sang of the Bludmen once and for all, stealing Tish’s locket in hopes of traveling back to her world himself for reinforcements, Criminy and Tish must battle ghosts, sea monsters, wayward submarines, a secret cabal, and thundering Bludmares to get the locket back and allow Tish to return home…but has she found love with Criminy? Could she stay in Sang forever?

Another book that's been on my shelf for some time, I even have the second book as well. It's one of those books that I loved the movie so I thought oooh maybe I should read the book. Yep I need to read this one!

Something Borrowed tells the story of Rachel, a young attorney living and working in Manhattan.

Rachel has always been the consummate good girl—until her thirtieth birthday, when her best friend, Darcy, throws her a party. That night, after too many drinks, Rachel ends up in bed with Darcy's fiancé. Although she wakes up determined to put the one-night fling behind her, Rachel is horrified to discover that she has genuine feelings for the one guy she should run from. As the September wedding date nears, Rachel knows she has to make a choice. In doing so, she discovers that the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren't always neat, and sometimes you have to risk all to win true happiness.

Something Borrowed is a phenomenal debut novel that will have you laughing, crying, and calling your best friend.

I have to admit, I have a pile of this type of book on my shelves, this one however caught my attention this week and I really want to read it. So the plan is to take it to work with me and read it durning lunch.

"I'm pregnant." Two words that will rock one man's world forever.

On location for a film about a horse-racing dynasty, Lily Beaumont is drawn into a sizzling affair with sexy stablehand Nash James. Now she has to trust him with the truth about their baby.

Even though the undercover millionaire is on a mission against his hated rival, he won't walk away from Lily or their unborn child. It will mean coming clean about his true identity—and the decades-old secret that brought him to Kentucky horse country. But will the truth cost him the woman and family he now craves?

I love this author and have this whole series in paperback. I can't wait to read this one, they look and sound so good. This one will probably be the second one I read on this list.

John Palmer hasn't felt like a real man since he was injured during combat in Iraq. Though not content with his new life, he is mostly adapting, just like the other vets at the Lost ‘N’ Found Investigative Service. When Shannon Murphy is hired on as the new office manager, life suddenly gets a lot more interesting. Before long, John finds himself wondering if he could ever be the kind of man Shannon needs.
Shannon Murphy wasn't really looking for love when she hired on at LNF, but finds herself hopelessly attracted to the sex-on-wheels former Marine, John Palmer. The man is grumpy and nearly impossible to work with, but his brand of masculinity appeals to her on a basic level. Soon Shannon is wondering just what it would take for John to want her the way she wants him.
When an old enemy tries to settle a vendetta against Shannon, John insists on protecting her. He moves into her house, fanning the spark of attraction into a blaze. But the danger continues to escalate. Will the connection that they've found survive when they’re thrust into a fight for their lives?

Last but not least, Outlander! This book is huge so it's going to take me some time, but I have been dying to read this one. I love the show so much so it's only natural for me to want to read it as well.

The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord...1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

So there you go, 10 Adult books that I want to read soon! When I mean soon I mean I'm starting the first today at work. LOL. Hope you all have a great Friday! Oh and if you have any adult book recomendations, send them my way. I'm always looking for other books to read!
