Valkyries have one great responsibility: to return immortals to the afterlife by slaying them. As a Valkyrie, Malin has always known that the balance of the world rests on her ability to carry out orders. But when Malin discovers that her mother spared the life of an immortal who was destined to die, her world is thrown into chaos.
Malin not only wrestles with the knowledge that her mother might not be who she thought—she’s also thrust into the path of a gorgeous blue eyed guy named Asher who needs her help slaying the rogue immortal who destroyed his family. The balance of the world is at stake. And, as Asher competes with Malin’s ex for her love and loyalty, so is her heart
I was so excited to be choosen to be part of this blog tour, I mean come on it's author Amanda Hocking! Who wouldn't want to be part of the tour right? Anyway, once I started reading the book was even more excited to share my thoughts with you. With that being said I will also be sharring a few not so great parts about the book, but honestly they aren't even that huge to make me not want to read this book again and the next ones in the series as well.
So let's get the negative out of the way real quick so I can talk about the amazing rest of the book. The first thing that I didn't really like was the slow burn beginning. The first chapter was a great way to open everything, but then it got a tiny bit slow. Don't get me wrong it picked up really quick afterward, but I really wanted it to just take off and keep going. Like I said it's not really a huge deal because of how amazing this book actually is.
Pretty much that's my only complaint about this book other than I need the next one like yesterday. Now it's time to chat about the good stuff in this book. First off I want to talk about the characters! I love like literly love the characters in this story. I've never read a book about Valkyries before and oh my did this one set the bar high for the next one I read. I loved all the character building and the world building as well. So much description in this story as well made me want to jump in and fight the battle with Malin.
Oh and I must say I loved the level of romance in this book as well, there wasn't so much that it took away from the story, but it was a perfect balance between romance and plot building. I will say this was a fast read for me and honestly I couldn't put it down. Even with the slow burn beginning, I had to know what was going to happen to Malin. I had to know if she was going to make it or not. Was she going to become a full fledged Valkyrie. So much amazingness with this story I simply can't wait for the next.
Writing style, I like to always comment about the authors writing style in a review and of course Amanda Hocking didn't disapoint once again. Her style is one that I can't wait to read once I've got my hands on one of her books.
All in all this is a great read and I was so excitied to end my year of reading with it. Make sure you get your hands on a copy as soon as its available!
