In this heartwarming, feel-good novel, a snowstorm brings a cast of very different characters together at a sleepy New England inn, just in time for Christmas—and maybe even in time for a Christmas miracle. A New England inn seems like the picture-perfect place to spend the holidays. But when a snowstorm shuts the roads and keeps them all inside, the guests find themselves worrying that this Christmas may not be exactly what they dreamed of. Molly just needs to keep her head down and finish her latest book, but her writer’s block is crippling. The arrival of Marcus, a handsome widower with two young girls, is exactly the distraction she doesn't need. Hannah was hoping for a picturesque winter wedding, but her plans come crashing down when her fiancé calls everything off. She reconnects with her childhood friend, Luke, when he comes to check on his grandmother before the storm. Jeanne and Tim don't know how they're going to keep the inn open another year—or how to bridge the distance between them in their marriage. With a flurry of unexpected guests, they'll have to work together to fix all the problems that crop up. But will it be enough to rekindle their relationship? As the characters’ stories intertwine, they start to find hope where they thought it had been lost. With faith, and a little bit of Christmas magic, the inn—and its inhabitants—might just make it through the holidays after all.

*There will be no spoilers posted for this book!*

The first thing this fantastic publishing company asked me when they came to me about reviewing The White Christmas Inn was if I would read/review a Christmas book in October. I of course very politely replied with sorry I don't do Christmas till December. Don't get me wrong I'm not one of those people who freak out when people put out their decorations early or anything like that, I just don't like to read Christmas books till December. Anyway, they were really nice about that and still sent me the book. So as soon I got this one in the mail I marked it for the end of November (The very end) or the beginning of December. (I totally started this one the day after Thanksgiving, don't tell! LOL)

My first impression of this book was with the cover and OMG this cover reminds me of what I love about Christmas and that is home! The cover is stunning and I couldn't wait to crack open this book and read what the pages had in store for the story. After looking at the cover I, of course, refreshed myself with what the book was about and knew right away I wanted to read it as soon as Thanksgiving was over. I loved the plot so much and I honestly wanted to go to the White Christmas Inn every second of reading this book, but I'll get back to that part in a few seconds.

Characters & Plot

Alright so let's talk about the characters first, I for one loved the characters in this book. I mean as a book lover who wouldn't love a character who is an author? I also loved Jeanne, who is one of the owners of The White Christmas Inn. Now as for her husband, he seriously pissed me off a few times while reading this one, but he does redeem himself several times. Honestly, he just reminds me of every other guy I've ever dated, you know the type where you asked them to do something and if you don't do it yourself it doesn't get done till next year. Anyway, I also really enjoyed Hannah's character but not as much as Molly our author!

Now as far as the plot and writing style itself is the best part of this book! The story is just well thought out and I honestly could see every detail as I read about the Inn. Like I said I would love to go to a really Inn like this. If anyone knows of one please let me know. I love the way author Colleen Wright has with words, they were very descriptive and just plain lovely!

The Negatives

The only negative that I have to say about The White Christmas Inn is the pacing of this book. For me, it really took a while for it to take off and for me to really get into the storyline. I loved the characters and the plot itself, but when the pacing is off in a book it can really take away from those things. Really that's the only thing that I didn't enjoy about this book. Sadly I did have to take a bit off on my rating because of this though.

My Final Thoughts

If you enjoy books about people overcoming and really enjoy books that revolve around family and loss then this book is perfect for you, mix in a lot of Christmas and snow and you've got this book.

As you can tell above, I'm giving The White Christmas Inn by Colleen Wright an Ali's Bookshelf...
