While other high school seniors are dreaming about their futures, Sophie and Carter are just trying to make it through each day. Carter is overwhelmed by issues at home as he struggles to support his mother. Meanwhile, next door neighbor Sophie is left to care for her three younger siblings in place of their absent and troubled mother. All that holds these two best friends together is each other, and knowing that each night they'll sit together on Sophie's front porch swing and escape from their troubles, if just for awhile. But as their relationship reaches a turning point and high school graduation nears, what lies ahead for Sophie and Carter?
Wow...I'm going to start this review out by saying Sophie and carter touched my heart in this story. I cried and laughed so hard reading about their life's.
For a 117 page story, this book is amazing! The Characters are fully developed and I totally fell in love with both of them and wanted to hug them so tight. I defiantly would love more of their story.
I love the way Chelsea Fine weaved their stories together and how Sophie and carter finally realized they loved each other. My favorite part of this story when Sophie wants to tell Carter she loves him too and she jumps out of her window. It's so cute and I loved it.
Both the main characters struggle in this story and when I say struggle its not the every day run of the mill struggle, its hard core. One being the daughter of a prostitute left to raise her little brothers and sister. The other main character is the son of a man that beat him and his mother so much that his mother is out of her mind crazy. Even though Carters father left awhile ago in this story, his actions in the past still touch each of them daily. Carter tries really hard to show his mom the love she deserves while struggling really hard to take care of her. Carter and Sophie are both my hero's. Strong and full of love to give!
I loved the contrast between the main characters from when they are both in school to their home life's and how the act around each other in both places. I don't want to give any more away about this incredible book so I'm going to stop now. But, if you can or get a chance to buy this book...DO IT! Trust me, this is a must buy on my list!
My definite rating for Sophie & Carter is:

Thank you for introducing me to this book--it sounds right up my alley. I love the age of the characters and that their love helps them overcome family dysfunction. I'm already predicting I'll cry reading this. Great review!
