After surviving the tragic deaths of her parents, her baby sister, and a harrowing trek across the plains to Utah, it's no surprise that Maggie's nights are plagued by nightmares. But after years of harsh treatment by her foster family and memories that seem to hint at an unthinkable crime, Maggie is forced to strike out on her own to separate the facts from the lies.
Review:
I really enjoyed reading Lighting Tree by Sarah Dunster, its not something I would normally read, but it sounded good so I thought I would give it a try. I was thoroughly surprised that I ended up really enjoying the story.
I really enjoyed reading about Maggie. In this story, She wants so badly to feel thankful for the Aldens taking her in and all the help they give her. But she can't help feel that things just aren't as they seem. The suspense in this story is great!
I also liked all the historical parts of this story, I'm a big history buff, so that's one of the main reason's I agreed to read and review the book in the first place.
All in all a great book for someone who loves a great mystery and some history mixed in! I will say one thing, if you don't like to read a lot of religious type books, you might not want to pick this one up. Its based in the Mormon faith and its a lot to take in sometimes!
