Jen's life of partying and sneaking out has grown stale. So on a whim, Jen makes a bet to turn Trevor, a goody-two-shoes geek, into a "bad boy." As she hangs out with Trevor, however, she finds it's actually kinda fun being a geek. But when Trevor finds out about the bet, Jen must fight for the things she's discovered matter most: friendship, family, and, above all, love.

Geek girl is an outstanding piece of fiction.  Life like Characters that jumped right off the page and into my heart.  While reading this incredible story, I couldn't get enough of the story and the characters so much so that I was so sad when the story ended.  I wanted more!

Characters

Jen
Jen is a girl that has been thrown around in the system and most of the time its of her own choosing.  Jen acts tough so no one will hurt her like she had been in her past.  She has this wall built up so thick that it takes someone very special to break it down.  In the beginning of the book she bets her friends that she can turn him bad, just like her.  No one really believes she can do it so they make this bet with her.

Jen tries really hard, but gets to know Trevor and ends up...well you should read it and find out what exactly happens.  Will she be able to let down that wall and let him in? Jen has no clue how loved she is and she really doesn't know how to love someone either.  But she does learn and grows so much through out this entire story and I love that about her.

Trevor
The Geek boy, the center of the bet, but Trevor is so much more than a geek and Jen finds that out and she changes because of the way he is.  I love Trevor in this story he is strong person.  He doesn't care what people think of him.  He doesn't change for anything.  He is who he is and that's all there is to it. He's always the same guy no matter what he's wearing or who he is with.

Jen's Foster Family

I love this family, they try really hard to get to know her and they don't try to change her.  They only try to love her and I love the way they show it. ( the bank account is just one way they show it, and that part of the book I love so much.)  Even the snooty sister, who really is just jealous that she isn't the only girl in the family anymore.  She still ends up loving Jen.

Jen's Friends

Jen's friends, well most of them except one are crazy partying Goth dressing friends.  They really don't care about Jen like a true friend would.  But, really Jen doesn't give then the chance too.  She pushes people away and even when she gets true friends she tries to push them away.  When she meats Jane she tries her best to let Jane know not to sit with Jen that she isn't worth it.  But Jane doesn't listen and I love Jane in this story.

Trevor's Family

Trevor's family are like the cleaver's, well that's the way Jen see's Trevor's mom.  I end up loving Trevor's brother though, hes so sweet and I love the trampoline scenes.  His mom is a bit uptight but I end up liking her as well.

Trevor's Friends

Geeks to the core! But I end up loving them and the parts of the book that they are in.  I love that they end up caring for Jen also and let her into their little group.  I loved the movie arguments between his friends.  I love Brian especially in this book, he is so sweet and a great friend to both Trevor and Jen.

The Plot

I absolutely adore the plot of this great book.  I wanted so much more of this story.  I felt this story was a real life story being told to me.  The book seems so real to me.  The story could happen in the real world and that's the best thing about this book.

The Writing

Cindy's writing style is perfection for this story.  She knows exactly how to tell a story and I hope Cindy will keep writing because I can't wait to read more of her books.

So with all that being said, I loved Geek Girl and I defiantly feel this is a must read!!! I loves so much about this great book and I could go on and on about the stuff I loved about it, but I'm going to stop now.  This way I don't give away to much of the story before you can read it! ( I hope you all will get this great book and read it)

Ali - Thank yo so much for this fantastic review! I love that you broke it down by characters and reviewed them individually. What a great idea. I also love that you gave it 5 "puppies". Adorable. :o)

I finished this one a little bit ago and I'll admit that I was quite a bit more impressed by the book than I thought I would be. Bennett did a great job writing believable characters with real emotions and actions.

I liked the breakdown in this review by character!
