The Night Circus Event- Author signing and Question and Answer Session

I was so excited to get the chance to meet the amazing author of The Night Circus! She was at our Joseph Beth Book Store last night in Crestview Hills Mall.  I am really starting to love this new book store.  We usually don't have to many authors come our way, but this book store is so amazing that I've gotten to meet two now.

Erin Morgenstern, was great as she read a passage of her tremendous book The Night Circus.  Then she proceeded with a question and answer session that ended up like a book discussion.  It was a great time spending the time with her and all the people that were there last night.

I wanted to get some of the questions and answers down, so my boyfriend Josh went and got me a notebook and I took notes lol.  So here is a few of the great questions that she was great at answering.  These are all from my notes!!!

Q. What were your Favorite Fariy Tales growing up?

A. Beauty and the Beast, Little Red Ridding Hood, and The Snow Queen (still her fav to this day.)

Q. How long did it take you to write The Night Circus?
A. About 5 years. A long starting draft from 05- 07 and mainly that was working on the circus. In Summer of 09 and spring of 2010 she started rewriting the book.
Q. Is there another novel in the works at this time?
A. Yes, but no where near ready yet!
Q. Where did you get the idea for the Clock?
A. She was thinking who would be the biggest fan of the Circus and she came up with the Coo Coo Clock! She wanted it to be Magical.
Q. Where any tents cut from the book?
A. She has one tent on her fb page about a shadow puppets maze tent. Its in the extras section. She also had a sharp Objects tent with Knife throwing, but after awhile she said it was to much knife throwing and it was cut.
Q. What questions would you like to be asked at book club discussions for your book?
A. She said she loves the What If? Questions. And the Personal Opinion ones as well.
Q. Did you do a lot of historical research on Circus for this book?
A. No, she just made things up! She was sad she couldn't put cotton candy in the book, b/c in that time it wasn't invented yet!
Q. Are you emotionally attached to your characters?
A. These aren't just characters to her, she said they are real people in her head. Yes she knows they aren't real, but they feel that way. (This was my favorite question!)

After the Q and A it was time for her to sign all the books. This time I had three for her to sign.  One that was mine, one for my friend and One for one of you! That's right I said one for one of you.  I am adding this book to my stack of books that I will be giving away for my 500 followers Giveaway! She even made the signature pretty with stars.  She was great and so nice to talk too.  I even got a picture with her!

It was a great night and I had so much fun!!!
