How to Add Personality to Your Blog and Your Posts (Bloggiesta Mini Challenge)

Hey all you Bloggiesta-ers!

So when I saw a post on the Bloggiesta website, mentioning something about needing bloggers for the mini challenges, I was super excited and picked this topic right away.  Figured it fit my blog perfectly.  As you can see here on Ali's Bookshelf, my blog is full of my personality and that's what I want to share with you all today.

As most of you all know my blog isn't plain in anyway, there's a lot of color and my posts always show a bit of who I am.  It's the way I like it and honestly, I'll never change that part of my blog. I think it's important part of my blogging experience. Now, with that being said, I'm not saying everyone should be this way, but I do think in some way every blogger should show their readers a bit of who they are on their blogs in some way.  Be it in their posts, sidebars, or like me...everywhere.

Personality on your Blog

I love sharing who I am with others and mainly that's a part of why I blog, isn't that part of the reason we blog in the first place?  Sharing your personality also gives your blog a bit of character and for me a bit of color.  When I say a bit, I mean a lot!

Personality Definition:

Also, I really think adding personality to your blog is a way to make it more fun to blog and fun for our readers as well.  Yes, I know the trend these past few years is a plain white blog background and plain theme, but for me that doesn't show who you are as a blogger at all.  (Before anyone gets offended by what I'm saying here, I'm just stating my opinion!)

Now if you like your background white, then there are always other ways to show who you are on your blog. Your sidebars are a great place to showcase a bit of personality. You can add color, images, and even quotes.  Honestly, I think adding personality to your blog is part of the reason it's so much fun. Also there are always header images and graphics! I mean come on who doesn't like graphics? Another great way to show personality is through sharing your knowledge about blogging.

Like I said above, there are tons of ways to add personality to your blog and your posts.  Below is a few more ways.

So here are some tips to adding some personality to your blog and your posts.

  • Add a pop of color to your background or your sidebar (It can be your favorite colors or just a color you like)
  • Use stickers/images for your posts, adding great colors and design to them.
  •  When writing a post, use language you would use on a daily basis.
  • Also talk to your readers through your posts, talk to them like they are your best friends.
  • Start your own meme, but make your own characteristics shine through by using graphics.
  • Share a bit about yourself with your readers or about your week. I do this sometimes with my in a week review posts.

Oh and don't forget...Have some fun with this challenge! It's what blogging is meant to be in the first place.

  1.  Before you do anything take a before screenshot of your blog.
  2. Add at least two details to your blog that shows your personality. These details can be on your sidebar, background, menu, or a post.  Just make sure you add some personality to your blog.
  3. Write up a post and show us your before and after shots of your blog.  What did you change and why? Also are you going to keep adding personality to your blog in some way?

Alright so I wanted to do a giveaway for the ones that actually complete this challenge.  I also wanted to make sure the prize was a good one.  So if you complete the challenge above, you will be able to enter to win a $20 Amazon gift card.
