It is the spring of 1241. The Mongol takeover of Europe is almost complete. The hordes commanded by the sons of Genghis Khan have swept out of their immense grassy plains and ravaged Russia, Poland, and Hungary ... and now seem poised to sweep west to Paris and south to Rome. King and Pope and peasant alike face a bleak future--until a small band of warriors, inheritors of a millennium-old secret tradition, conceive of a desperate plan to kill the Khan of Khans.Their leader, an elder of the order of warrior monks, will lead his elite group on a perilous journey into the East. They will be guided by an elusive and sharp-witted young woman, who believes the master's plan is insane. But this small band is the West's last, best hope to turn back the floodtide of the Mongol Empire.
Review:
Alright, after reading my IN A Glance above you must know by now that I didn't enjoy this book. I thought for sure I would love it though and I seriously tried to love it, but it just didn't hit the mark for me.
Being a history buff that I am I requested this book to read and review, but after reading all the pages of this one I can defiantly say its a no go for me. There are some things I did enjoy about it though,, one being the setting of the story, that was defiantly pretty interesting for me.
I usually try to stay away from books that are jam packed full of authors and this one book proves to me exactly why I do that. Everything felt so jumbled and didn't come together correctly. There was way to many point of views that it took away from the plot.
I don't want anyone to not read a book because I put a lower rating on a book though, you know me I always say not every book is for every person and this is why it wasn't for me. No matter how much I wanted this book to be perfect story for me, I just couldn't force myself to love it!
