The astronomical success of the historical novels of Phillipa Gregory and Christine Trent prove that readers simply can't get enough of the British royals--and now Mary Hart Perry enters the fray with an exciting, deliciously sensual novel of Queen Victoria's "wild child" daughter, the Princess Louise. The Wild Princess transports us back to Victorian England and plunges us into the intrigues of the royal court, where the impetuous Louise brazenly followed no one's rules but her own--even marrying a commoner, which no one of royal blood had done in the previous three centuries. Filled with rich period deal, The Wild Princess is an exciting, enthralling read. The Tudors have gotten the lion's share of attention in historical fiction; it's high time Queen Victoria and her family got their due
Review:
When I first agreed to review this book for the tour I was thinking this would be a great change from what I've been reading and boy o boy was I correct on that. This is a great historical fiction, filled with romance and a great plot!
I really love how this story unfolds, with Princess Louse craving that love that she so desperately needs but isn't' getting in her loveless marriage. I guess that's what happens when you marry someone your truly not in love with or loves you. I mean how could he really love her when he is gay? I loved the romance in this story though. Also the Twists and turns of this book really help the story along, although some parts are very slow paced. That was mainly my only complaint about the story, there were parts where I wasn't sure what was going on and where the story was going because the the pacing of it. But in the end it really didn't matter to me because I loved this story so much.
The way Mary Hart Perry, showed us this world and the way she betrayed the Royal family is very realistic so much so that I could see it all playing out in my head as I read each and every word of this book. The characters in this book, from the largest to the smallest are so very well thought out, each one seeming real and larger than life. I really love that about this authors writing. You can really tell how much passion she put into her story, its all in the details. She defiantly has her own style of writing! Plus she made sure we really got each side of the story by having it told in several point of views, which is something I love about the books I've been reading lately.
The Wild Princess is a fantastic Debut Novel and I can't wait to see how this fantastic author will top this one.
