True love can last an eternity . . . but immortality comes at a price. On the midnight shift at a hospital in rural St. Andrew, Maine, Dr. Luke Findley is expecting a quiet evening. Until a mysterious woman arrives in his ER, escorted by police—Lanore McIlvrae is a murder suspect—and Luke is inexplicably drawn to her. As Lanny tells him her story, an impassioned account of love and betrayal that transcends time and mortality, she changes his life forever. . . . At the turn of the nineteenth century, when St. Andrew was a Puritan settlement, Lanny was consumed as a child by her love for the son of the town’s founder, and she will do anything to be with him forever. But the price she pays is steep—an immortal bond that chains her to a terrible fate for eternity.

Review:

I've been thinking for a few weeks on exactly how I was going to start this review.  I could go through and tell you how amazing it is and how much I loved this book, because I truly do.  Or I could say how much this book grabbed a hold of me and didn't let me go till I read the last word on the very last page, which would also be a very true statement.

But, I'm not going to start there, no I think I will start by saying this...

The Taker by Alma Katsu, took me for a ride I will never forget! I know that totally sounds all weird but its true.  This book is not like any other book I have read before.  It is so majorly tragic at points where I was so upset that I wanted to put the book down and walk away for a bit but I couldn't because I had to know what was going to happen.

This story and book is one I can see myself reading again and again, but seeing as I already have the second book I'll just read that one for now.  Alma Katsu, is a fantastic author, one I will defiantly continue to read her books.  The way she writes is one that is all her own style, not like many I've seen before and I think that is what caught me at first, then as soon as the story hooked me I was a goner!  I was so pulled into the main characters story and felt so connected with her as well.  I love books like this one where I can connect with the character and feel what they are feeling as I'm reading!

This book defiantly has all the perfect elements in it, twists and turns, romance and history.  What more can you ask for in a great book? I love it from cover to cover!

I must say also that the new cover for this book is extraordinary, I love how eye catching it is! The colors are perfect and so is the font of the title.  Really love it!
